Submissions to PLCN

Playwrights Canada Press accepts submissions all year round.

Single new plays submitted for publication consideration must have been written by a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, and have had at least one professional production in the last ten years. Plays that have only had a Fringe production will not be accepted.

The author must ensure that the first production information, including cast and crew, is included with the manuscript.

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically either as a Word document or as a PDF. Hard copy submissions will still be accepted by mail. Should you wish the physical manuscript to be returned, please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient postage. If the play is accepted for publication, it must be available in an electronic file.

If there are any complications with material in the script, (i.e. use of music, lyrics, poetry or dialogue that is under other copyright than the script’s author) proof that rights have been obtained, or information on who controls those rights, must be enclosed.

If the script is co-authored, both authors must agree to submit, and proof that this is the case must accompany the manuscript.
