Wajdi Mouawad
Wajdi Mouawad is Lebanese in
his childhood, French in his way of thinking and Québécois in his
theatre. That’s what happens when you spend your childhood in Beirut,
your adolescence in Paris and then try to become an adult in Montreal.
Since graduating from the National
Theatre School of Canada, Wajdi Mouawad has written, adapted, translated
and directed stage plays for audiences of all ages. He also founded
the Théâtre Ô Parleur with Isabelle Leblanc, to celebrate language
and ideas and send them travelling.
For four years (2000–2004),
Wajdi Mouawad was at the helm of Montreal’s Théâtre de Quat’Sous
where he programmed seasons that voyaged through the words of the shipwrecked.
Works published by Lémeac-Actes
Sud: Pacamambo, Rêves, Littoral, Les Mains
d’Edwige au moment de la naissance, Alphonse, Journée de noces
