Victoria Dawe
Victoria Dawe is a playwright, screenwriter
and director. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University
of Victoria and a Master of Arts from the University of Toronto. As
well, she is a graduate of the Writers Lab, Residency Program at the
Canadian Film Centre. Her plays include Burning Bright
(Fringe Festival of Toronto), Random
(New Ideas Festival, Alumnae Theatre), At Home with Jack and Jill
(New Ideas Festival, Alumnae Theatre), and she co-wrote Is
‘Ard Ya know! (L’Ensemble) and The Oath (Northern Secondary
School). Victoria has had several short films produced including “Stepping
Out” (Canadian Film Centre), “Les Madeleines” (The Ensemble Film
Group), “One of Our Own” (Mad Rock Productions), and “Rue the
Day” (The Ensemble Film Group, screened at the Los Angeles International
Short Film Festival). Her directing credits include English Rose
(Ontario Tour), Semi-Private
(First Draft Theatre Company, Tarragon Extra Space), Doris Lives:
Que Sera, Que Sera (Fringe Festival of Toronto), The Acrobatic
Sex Cult (Toronto Fringe Festival), Pink Chanel Suit
(Summerworks), Better Living
(Alumnae Theatre), Cloud Nine
(Alumnae Theatre) and Is ‘Ard Ya Know (Newfoundland Tour).
Victoria is a native of Newfoundland (the place she will always call
home), but currently lives in Toronto, where she teaches high school
drama and skydives on the weekends.
