Daniel Karasik

Daniel Karasik wrote In Full Light in 2006, when he was nineteen years old and backpacking in West Africa. The play was developed the following year at the Canadian Stage Company in Toronto and it premiered at the 2007 SummerWorks Theatre Festival, where it won the Contra Guys Award for Outstanding New Play.

Daniel’s other theatre writing credits include Dances Through Disaster (SummerWorks 2005), Night’s Swift Dragons (Rhubarb! Festival 2004), Port (Rhubarb! 2003) and In Europe The Ceilings Are Very High at the Tarragon Theatre-hosted Paprika Festival, in 2004. Another play, The Problem With Being A Pond, was Tarragon Theatre’s 2003 Under Twenties Playwriting Contest winner. Daniel was the inaugural playwright-in-residence at the Paprika Festival.

Daniel has acted at Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre, with Modern Times Stage Company, and in a handful of new plays at the SummerWorks Festival. Film and TV credits include work with Alliance Atlantis, CBC, CTV, Global, NBC and Walt Disney Films. A native of Thornhill, Ontario, Daniel currently lives in Toronto, where he is a member of the Tarragon’s Playwrights Unit.
