Daniel Karasik
Daniel Karasik
wrote In Full Light in 2006, when he was nineteen years old and
backpacking in West Africa. The play was developed the following year
at the Canadian Stage Company in Toronto and it premiered at the 2007
SummerWorks Theatre Festival, where it won the Contra Guys Award for
Outstanding New Play.
Daniel’s other theatre
writing credits include Dances Through Disaster
(SummerWorks 2005), Night’s Swift Dragons
(Rhubarb! Festival 2004), Port
(Rhubarb! 2003) and In Europe The Ceilings Are Very High
at the Tarragon Theatre-hosted Paprika Festival, in 2004. Another
play, The Problem With Being A Pond, was Tarragon Theatre’s
2003 Under Twenties Playwriting
Contest winner. Daniel was the inaugural playwright-in-residence at
the Paprika Festival.
Daniel has acted at
Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre, with Modern Times Stage Company, and in
a handful of new plays at the SummerWorks Festival. Film and TV credits
include work with Alliance Atlantis, CBC, CTV, Global, NBC and Walt
Disney Films. A native of Thornhill, Ontario, Daniel currently lives
in Toronto, where he is a member of the Tarragon’s Playwrights Unit.
