Dan Ebbs
Dan Ebbs received his theatre training
at Humber College in Toronto and his theatre reality via numerous rejection
letters. He presently resides in London, the place of his birth, where
he writes, directs and acts in community theatre, as well as teaching
acting and supply teaching. Dreams and work have led him to Halifax,
the Czech Republic and South Korea.
Most of his plays deal with social injustice
and communication blocks. These themes are prominent in Home and
Native Land, a drama about the internment camps in Canada during
World War I, specifically the Ukrainian ones in Banff National Park.
Dan founded and acted as Artistic Director of the Port Elgin Mini Theatre
(1983), behindthewire productions (2005-present), as well as serving
as Artistic Director for the Living Room Theatre in Banff (2003). He
has written more than twenty plays, most of them of the one-act variety
for youth. A forty-nine-year-old amateur, he holds neither an Equity
nor ACTRA card, only a burning love for the stage. As Night to the
Day was written for the 2006 PlayWrights Cabaret at the McManus
Studio Theatre in London's Grand Theatre.
