Beyond the Pale
Dramatic Writing
from First Nations Writers and Writers of Colour
selected and edited by Yvette Nolan
As I ponder this second collection,
I am gratified to see how far we have come in a mere ten years. Many
of the plays represented here have been produced by mainstream companies,
on major Canadian stages
. The very best theatre surprises, shakes
us from our expectations, and we leave the theatre changed in some way.
These writers take us beyond the safe limits of decent everyday society,
beyond the pale.
