Belle Moral: A Natural History

by Ann-Marie MacDonald

Ann-Marie MacDonald is a writer and actor. Her plays include Good-night Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) , the libretto for the chamber opera Nigredo Hotel , and book and lyrics for the musical Anything That Moves, as well as the collaboratively-created The Attic, the Pearls, and 3 Fine Girls. As an actor, she has worked in theatres across the country, as well as in numerous feature films and television series. MacDonald's novels Fall On Your Knees and The Way the Crow Flies are published internationally and have been translated into more than twenty languages.

Belle Moral: A Natural History premiered at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on the-Lake, Ontario, one of the largest classical repertory theatres in North America. The Shaw's chosen mandate is to produce plays written or set during the lifetime of George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950) – “plays about the beginning of the modern world”. This mandate is unique in world theatre.

Co-published by Playwrights Canada Press and the Academy of the Shaw Festival.
