Submissions
Single new plays submitted for publication consideration must be written by a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, and have had at least one professional production in the last ten years. Plays that have only had a Fringe production will not be accepted. We ask that playwrights submit only one play. Playwrights Canada Press is not currently accepting submissions for anthologies.
The author must ensure that the first production information, including cast and crew, is included with the manuscript.
Manuscripts must be submitted electronically either as a Word document or as a PDF. Hard copy submissions will still be accepted by mail. Should you wish the physical manuscript to be returned, please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient postage. If the play is accepted for publication, it must be available in an electronic file.
If there are any permission complications with material in the script, (i.e., the use of music, lyrics, poetry, or dialogue that is under other copyright than the script’s author) proof that rights have been obtained, or information on who controls those rights, must be enclosed.
If the script is co-authored, both authors must agree to submit, and proof that this is the case must accompany the manuscript.
Staff at Playwrights Canada Press read every play submitted to us. Due to the high volume of scripts we receive, you can expect a response in six to eight months from the date of submission.
Please direct all submissions to submissions@playwrightscanada.com
